A special meeting between Deputy leader of the United National Party , Mr. Sajith Premadasa and leader of the Tamil National Alliance, Mr. R. Sambandan took place at the official residence of the Finance Minister , Mr. Mangala Samaraweera in Colombo on Wednesday ( 21) night.

Along with TNA leader, Mr. R. Sambandan, Jaffna District TNA Parliamentarian Mr. M. Sumanthiran too attended this meeting, organized by Mr. Mangala Samaraweera on the request of Mr. Sajith Premadasa and Mr. Kabeer Haseem, Mr. Malik Samarawickrama and Mr. Ranjith Madduma Bandara had joined them in the mid of the meeting, representing Mr. Sajith Premadasa.

In this meeting which was going on from 8.00 p.m. to 12 noon where some political issues were discussed deeply, Mr.Sajith Premadasa requested the support of the Tamil National Alliance since he will definitely contest at the Presidential election either from the new Alliance under the leadership of UNP or as a common candidate. Responding to the request, leader of the Tamil National Alliance, Mr. R. Sambandan had told the Deputy leader of UNP, Mr. Sajith Premadasa that his stand can be declared after the Presidential candidate of the new Alliance, to be formed under the leadership of UNP is nominated and the declaration of the Presidential election. .

When the Parliamentarians of TNA questioned from Mr. R. Sambandan after this meeting regarding this issue on Thursday (22), he had explained that there is no need to get panicked over it in a situation where a Presidential election has not been declared and still the Tamil National Alliance had not taken a decision as to whom it will support at the Presidential election.
